Ericsson studied competitive violinists [2], showing that they indeed engaged in “concentrated blocks of practice, or 4 hours of concentrated effort, before they became tired.” So, despite what certain individuals set as their objective, four hours of concentrated “deep work” is obviously an apex after which one’s performance naturally declines significantly.
