A single executable on a modest cloud instance can often handle the entire user load of a well-funded startup through its first five to ten years of growth. The bottleneck is almost always the database, not the application architecture.
Nothing worse than premature optimization. I think anyways.
IMO this architecture took off because “monoliths” became too “hard” to upgrade.
